My First Day x 1.5 in Bangkok, Thailand

As many of you may or may not know, I am here in Bangkok, Thailand to study abroad for the spring semester of 2014. So here I am ! Thailand was not my first choice (it was my third), but what must have happened is that Thailand chose me (along with some risks that did not work in my favor in my application I'm sure).
Many of my friends and family are shocked to hear that I decided to go to Thailand for such a long period of time, but I have not shocked myself by this choice. This essay/public diary is seeming to get boring really fast so I'm just going to cut to the chase even though I don't know what I'm going to say.
I was so sad to leave my family but I was soon distracted by an Australian girl in the security check line who started talking to me, who also happened to be interested in attending USC (how these random miraculous encounters occur, is beyond me). My flight was shorter than I expected given that I expected it to be a miserable experience and also that a movie I had wanted to watch (Le Passe by Asghar Farhadi) was featured on the plane by chance and also that I was very tired so I knocked out.
What you should know now is that I am actually typing this on my phone because I cannot use my chrome book for this because I do not yet have access to WiFi.
So. The first day, u visited what I believe to be Siam Mall and Siam Hot mall, which were mind blowing especially given the food court that was the highest class food court I had ever seen in my life with so many choices that it was overwhelming and that I actually considered not getting anything because buying nothing is much more of an optimal situation compared to getting something average or even amazing before walking by something else that would be less average or more amazing. Nevertheless, I chose a soy milk tea with chia seeds that was OK but for the sake of excitement let's just say it was unlike anything I ever had before. I also visited a touristy temple by my university.
I went to Chulalongkorn University (where I will be studying) with my friend and we actually got a tour by a new friend we met on campus. The campus is beautiful and homey and full of trees and some very nice looking buildings with nice structures and greenery. What's even nicer is that that's only half of it so the other half of campus still remains a mystery.
On day two, I woke up early to open a bank account and sign up for my phone plan (the latter of which is a situation where I am sure I got gypped) which involved communicating with individuals in sign language and a few loud English words because very few Thais seem to know English. I later visited the pool at Montien Hotel and read some of my book "East of Eden". It was very nice but so hot that I left my group of friends early to go back to the AC'd room. Then, I went on a trek to find the French consulate so my French friends and roommates could report their presence in Bangkok. Before this, we had some very sketchy street food that I ate extremely reluctantly but did not want to refuse because the rest of my group seemed sure about the "place".
I later got the chance to see a very dirty and uncharismatic river in Bangkok but I still liked to be there and look at it.
We then took a TUK TUK (VERY exciting given there was 5 of us squished in it where it looked like it was made for 2/3) and we zoomed away in the lethal smoke and traffic of Bangkok to the MBK mall, where there are more tourists galore with overpriced items that you surely could've found elsewhere for half the price given this is Bangkok. I was able to find my school uniform, which I had wanted wear for a decade now for reasons that are also unknown to myself along with a pair of cool, flowy elephant pants that look legit and feel even more legit-er.
We soon ate in the food court that had a smell which made me want to bolt the hell out of there into a garden of flowers, but I unfortunately realized this in the middle of eating my meal which made for an unpleasant experience to say the least.
Hmmm.. I guess that's all that happened. We took the metro which has been the chilliest place yet, and everywhere indoors is highly air conditioned. We also walked down a street where women were very dressed up and looking nice but I am pretty sure nice things were not about to take place.

Now I am BK CHILLIN on this hotel bed waiting to move into my residence tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures below:::
